LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team lost 4-0 on Thursday in its season opener at Cal State Los Angeles.
NNU trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but let the game get away in the second 45 minutes.
"The best and worst part is that they scored four from our own mistakes, not from them just beating us," NNU coach
Adam Pearce said. "That's not good because it should have been a closer contest than the score showed had we not made the unforced errors.
"It is good because the correction is within our ability and control. We learned a lot today. Next step in the journey."
The Eagles opened the scoring in the fourth minute on a tap in then added goals in the 58th, 66th and 84th.
The Nighthawks (0-1) finished with six shots, including two on goal.
Alex Nadermann made two saves, while playing all 90 minutes in goal.
NNU plays at Biola University at 2 p.m. MDT on Saturday.
