| By:
Box Score TURLOCK, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team wrapped up its preseason schedule Saturday by sweeping Holy Names at the D2 West Region Showcase hosted by Stanislaus State.

NNU went 3-1 on the weekend after sweeping Holy Names 25-13, 25-16, 25-18.

"Something we talked about all weekend was having good energy and enthusiasm when we stepped on the floor," NNU coach Doug English said. "We finished that way this morning. Our defense was good and we did a good job of transitioning and killing balls.

"This was a good weekend for us heading into conference."

Brooke Foster's 10 kills and 17 digs led the Nighthawks, while Tayler Markland added eight kills and Natalie Sullivan had nine.

The Nighthawks got everyone on the roster into the match, including all three setters. Mckenzie Lee's 11 assists led NNU, while Casey Kispert and Megan Nelson had 10 each.

Kayla Sale finished with 14 digs, Caroline McMahon 11 and Abbey Blum 10.

NNU opens Great Northwest Athletic Conference play Thursday at Western Washington and Saturday at Simon Fraser.

The Nighthawks host Saint Martin's on Thursday, Sept. 26 in their home opener.
