Dear freshman year Sam,
Â
Listen man ... you're in for a wild ride.
Â
You will start your collegiate basketball career at a small junior college, but that's not where you will end up. Four different schools in four consecutive years. Every part of this journey will play an important role in developing who you are as a person. You will begin to enjoy school like you never have before.
Â
At some points you will debate on quitting basketball and finishing up school as quickly as possible. Just know it is not a race. You will wish you had more time when you are done. Follow your dreams and do what you love as long as it continues to help take steps forward as an individual. You have six long years of school ahead of you. Season ending injuries will happen ... but you will learn from them. Setbacks in basketball health wise will offer opportunities for furthering education. You are going to get your MBA!
Â
You will meet some of your best friends along this journey, many of whom will not even be from the United States. You will learn important aspects of leadership, love, and hard work that will help set you up for success later on in life. The list goes on and on.
Â
If I were to give you one piece of advice it would be to make the most out of every single day and live it up like it's your last!
Â
Sincerely,
Â
Senior year Sam
