Nighthawks fall short against Clan

BURNABY, B.C. – The Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team lost 2-1 to Simon Fraser on Saturday in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.

Lorenzo Valentini scored on a penalty kick with less than a minute to go and Alex Nadermann made two saves in goals.

The Nighthawks (6-10 overall, 2-8 GNAC) played the Clan scoreless until the 66th minute when Peder Syvertsen scored his first goal of the season. Mark Talisuna scored four minutes later to make it 2-0.

Simon Fraser's Matteo Polisi was ejected on a red card in the 77th minute, but the Nighthawks couldn't capitalize until the final minute.

NNU plays at Concordia at 8:30 p.m. MST on Thursday before playing their final game of the season at 4 p.m. Saturday against Seattle Pacific at NNU Field.
