ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team was swept by Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.
The Nighthawks lost 25-7, 25-20, 25-18.
"They came out and played great in Set 1 and got us a little off from what we wanted to do," NNU coach
Doug English said. "While we responded better in Sets 2 and 3, we had problems getting kills and they served great and got us out of system."
Natalie Sullivan's eight kills led the Nighthawks, while
Brooke Foster added six.
Megan Nelson finished with 17 assists, while
Kayla Sale had 9 digs,
Caroline McMahon had eight digs and
Abbey Blum had seven.
"On Thursday, we had one of our best passing matches and then today this wasn't one of our best passing matches," English said. "They played lights out and you have to give them some credit.
"Overall, this is a very, very tough road trip. We are bummed we didn't play better, but we did go 1-1."
The Nighthawks (6-7 overall, 2-5 GNAC) are back in action at 8 p.m. MDT on Tuesday at Central Washington. NNU returns to Nampa to face Montana State Billings at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
