NNU volleyball falls in four sets

| By:
Box Score AZUSA, Calif. – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team lost in four sets to Biola on Thursday during the West Region Showcase at Azusa Pacific University.

The Nighthawks (0-4 overall) lost 25-23, 25-12, 22-25, 25-19 to the Eagles, who also defeated NNU in five sets in the team's previous match last Saturday in Nampa.

"We are still fighting the unforced error battle with our team," NNU coach Doug English said, "and trying to find someone to get us out of tough situations, whether that is in serve receive or attacking."

The Nighthawks trailed 16-12 in the first set before pulling within 24-23, but couldn't complete the rally. They played much better in the second two sets, but couldn't get over the 2-0 hole.

"We got better at stopping their setter attack as the match went on," English said. "Hopefully we can keep getting better at the little things each time we play as we are trying to grow as much as possible every time we step on the floor."

Cami Heninger's 10 kills and 16 digs led the Nighthawks, while Abbey Blum added nine kills, Tayler Markland had seven kills, Megan Nelson had 21 assists, Shayli Siegfreid had 11 digs, Kayla Sale had 10 digs and Mckenzie Lee had 15 assists and four digs.

NNU plays again Thursday night facing Sonoma State.
