Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Northwest Nazarene University baseball team was swept Friday by Central Washington in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader.

The Nighthawks lost the opener 11-7 and the nightcap 10-2. The two teams meet in another doubleheader at 1 p.m. MDT on Saturday.

In the opener, NNU gave up five runs in the eighth inning to let the game get away.

"You just can't give up until the last strike of the last out of the last inning of the last game," NNU coach Rocke Musgraves said. "We have to have that mindset to do great things, which we are capable of.

"We are making passive mistakes right now. I believe our guys will turn it around."

Despite the sweep, the Nighthawks (13-26 overall, 11-19 GNAC) remain alive in the postseason hunt thanks to Montana State Billings sweeping Concordia.

In Friday's opener, Justin Folz was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a triple, Casey Sheehan drove in two runs, Zach Penrod was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Bennet Tabaracci scored twice.
Jesse Hilyard took the loss in relief of Blake McFadden.

In the nightcap, NNU managed just one hit – an RBI single by Coltin Brink to drive in pinch hitter Kyle Redford in the fifth inning.

Griffin Davis struck out seven in six innings for the Wildcats to hold down the NNU offense.

Greg Casper took the loss for NNU.
