LACEY, Wash. – The Northwest Nazarene softball team swept Saint Martin's 4-0 and 14-3 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday.
Jordan Adams struck out 13 in a two-hit shutout in the opener and then the offense blew the game open in the nightcap.
"Jordan Adams pitched very well in the circle today," NNU coach
Rich Wagner said. "We did a good job of making adjustments at the plate offensively. Most importantly, we did a great job not leaving runners on base."
In the opener,
Shelbie Martinez hit a two-run home run and Brittany Genuardi drove in a pair of runs as the Nighthawks picked up their second GNAC win of the season.
In the nightcap, Genuardi was 2-for-3 with four RBIs,
Cassidy Fifield was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Martinez was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Anna Williams had two doubles and an RBI as the Nighthawks scored all 14 runs in the third inning.
"
Shelbie Martinez continues to swing the bat well," Wagner said. "It was great to have Anna Williams back in the lineup."
The two teams play another doubleheader at 1 p.m. MST on Saturday.
