ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Northwest Nazarene University softball team dropped a pair of games Friday at the Dixie State Easton Classic.
The Nighthawks (4-7) lost 13-4 to Colorado Mesa and 10-2 in five innings to Colorado School of Mines.
"Our offense didn't show up today," NNU coach
Rich Wagner said. "The effort was there, but the approach at the plate needs to be better. Once again we need to make adjustments on different pitching styles."
In the opener, Anna Williams was 2-for-2 with a run, Brittany Genuardi was 1-for-3 with a two-run double and
Kylie Orr was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.
Jordan Adams (2-3) allowed two runs on two hits in 1.1 innings pitched, taking the loss.
In the nightcap, Fifield was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Williams was 1-for-3 with an RBI double,
Kylie Orr was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Genuardi had a double.
Rae Young (1-2) gave up eight runs – six earned – in four innings to take the loss.
"In Game 2, we let it get away with some errors," Wagner said. "We were right in it if we didn't make some errors in the first inning."
The Nighthawks are back in action Saturday with two more games to close out the weekend tournament.
