PUEBLO, Colo. – The Northwest Nazarene University baseball team gave up nine runs in the fourth inning, falling 11-3 to Colorado State Pueblo on Friday in a nonconference game.
The Thunderwolves banged out six hits in the inning and took advantage of an error as NNU (2-7) lost its fifth consecutive game.
"We are in one of those places where nothing seems to go our way," NNU coach
Rocke Musgraves said. "You just have to weather these storms. If we can stay together as a team, we'll be fine."
The two teams play again Saturday in a single game in Colorado.
Justin Folz hit a solo blast for the Nighthawks, while Zach Penrod continued his torrid hitting finishing 4-for-4 with two doubles. Penrod homered three times in a doubleheader Thursday.
Cameron Duke added two hits for NNU. Ryan Mets took the loss, allowing five runs in 3.1 innings pitched. He walked two and struck out four.
