NNU men roll in exhibition

| By:
Box Score NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene men's basketball team defeated Portland Bible 114-56 in an exhibition game Saturday at Johnson Sports Center.

Everyone who was healthy got minutes in the victory and all but one player scored.

The Nighthawks (6-1 overall) shot 54.3 percent from the field, making more baskets (44) than Portland Bible attempted (41).

"I was really encouraged by our defensive effort," NNU head coach Paul Rush said. "I thought our guys were locked in and really trying to execute defensively. We had a couple of mistakes in the first half, but really came out focused in the second half."

Felix White's 16 points and seven rebounds led NNU, while James Nelson had 14 points and seven rebounds. Jayden Bezzant had 12 points, Sam Roth and Adalberto Diaz each had 11 and Jalen Burkett had 10.

The game was also a chance for players who don't normally play much to get big minutes. Sam Franks had nine points in 19 minutes, Luke Wicks had nine points in 18 minutes and Zac Furgerson had seven points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes.

"Those guys work super hard in practice every day," Rush said. "They don't always get the game reward that they want and oftentimes deserve, so it was great to get them into the lineup tonight."

NNU is back in regular-season action at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Metro State in Denver, Colo.

Durham Rosser, who played one semester for NNU back in 2012-13, led Portland Bible (0-12) with 15 points and six rebounds.
