NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene volleyball team lost in four sets to Montana State Billings on Saturday in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match.
The Nighthawks (6-19 overall, 6-12 GNAC) won the first set, but couldn't keep the momentum going falling 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 as the Yellowjackets (12-16, 6-12) swept the season series.
"I thought we worked really hard throughout the whole match," NNU coach
Doug English said. "There were some long rallies and the effort and energy were great as people were diving for balls the whole match."
NNU outside hitter
Abbey Blum hurt her ankle in the second set and missed the remainder of the match, which caused the Nighthawks lineup to have to shift.
"With Abbey going down we had some trouble scoring points," English said. "Abbey is one of our best point scorers so that kind of came to show up in sets two and three."
Cami Heninger had 14 kills and 17 digs to lead the Nighthawks, while
Kayla Sale had 11 kills and 16 digs.
Natalie Knauf ,
Tayler Markland and
Brooke Foster each added seven kills.
Megan Nelson had 28 assists and 13 digs,
Mckenzie Lee had 14 assists and 10 digs and
Shayli Siegfreid had 21 digs.
NNU is back in action at 7 p.m. Thursday against Alaska.
