Nighthawks rally falls short

| By:
Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. – The Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team's rally came up short Saturday as they lost 3-2 to Seattle Pacific in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game.

The Nighthawks (3-8-1 overall, 3-3-0 GNAC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Alex Mitrovic in the fourth minute off an assist by Dominic Abdel-Ahad. Mitrovic scored from 12-yards out for his fourth of the season.

The Falcons (8-6-0, 4-3-0) quickly rallied, though, scoring twice in two minutes in the 19th (on a penalty kick) and 21st minutes. Titus Grant scored both and then capped a first-half hat trick in the 27th minute.

"We showed a lot of heart and character to battle back tonight," NNU coach Joel DeLass said. "Unfortunately, we didn't take our chances and ran out of time."

Rafael Junqueira scored his seventh goal of the season off an assist from Logan Wood, hammering in a low shot off the left post from 19-yards out in the 60th minute.

But the Nighthawks were never able to find the equalizer.

Jacob Hillyer made six saves in goal for the Nighthawks, who host Montana State Billings at 4 p.m. Thursday and Concordia at 3 p.m. Saturday.
