Box Score NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team was firing on all cylinders on Friday afternoon, defeating Dominican University of California 25-12, 25-11, 25-16 at the 2017 Division II West Region Showcase hosted by NNU at the Johnson Sports Center.
Madi Farrell led all players with 16 kills in impressive fashion. Farrell hit .889, racking up her 16 kills on only 18 swings.
"I thought we came out really focused and we served to the right people" NNU head coach
Doug English commented. "Doing that put a lot of pressure on their offense."
The Crusaders (6-0) offense hit .389 as a team while playing all 15 active players on the roster.
Kendra Bodine also reached double-figures with 12 kills.
"Our attacking was awesome which means our serve-receive and setting were on point," English continued. "Madi had a career type match."
Hailey Cook finished with 21 assists and
Megan Nelson dished out 16.
While the offense rolled along, the NNU defense finished with 49 digs and out-blocked the Penguins 10-2.
Aimee Steinwand finished with 10 kills for the Penguins (1-5) and Hana Wyles had 12 digs.
The Crusaders will play twice tomorrow, opening play at 10:30 a.m. against Hawaii Pacific and closing out the tournament at 8 p.m. against Sonoma State.
