Box Score NAMPA, Idaho - A hot, humid and smokey afternoon didn't slow down the Northwest Nazarene University women's soccer team as they defeated Carroll College 3-0 in a non-conference match at the NNU Soccer Field.
"We created some good chances today," commented NNU head coach
Mary Trigg.  "I'm glad the girls rewarded themselves with some good goals. We are getting better every day."
The Crusaders (2-1-0) started quick as freshman
Rikki Myers converted a shot from 15-yards out in the 11th-minute off a ball fed up the middle by
Madi Taylor.
NNU would force the action much of the half and score again in the 33rd-minute. This time it was
Madi Taylor scoring her third goal of the season from the right side of the box. Taylor beat the keeper from 18-yards out after receiving a crossing pass from
Kaisa Tsuruta and a one-touch tap from
Maddy Midstokke.
Emily Wilkins completed the scoring for the hosts in the 85th-minute, taking another ball played up the middle from Tsuruta and working a nice finish in the middle of the box.
The Crusaders finished with a 15-7 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Daniele Ortiz earned the shutout in goal, stopping five 'Fighting Saints shots. Carroll's Devan Murfitt also hustled for five saves.
The Crusaders will travel to the Bay Area next weekend, facing San Francisco State on Sept. 7th at 3:00 p.m. PT and Holy Names University on Sept. 9th at 1:00 p.m. PT.
