12th-ranked Crusaders sweep Nanooks to remain unbeaten

Box Score NAMPA, Idaho – The 12th-ranked Northwest Nazarene volleyball team kept their focus after a key win on Thursday night to defeat the University of Alaska Fairbanks 25-12, 25-10, 25-18 this afternoon at the Johnson Sports Center.
 
"We played really focused volleyball today.  Our serving took them out of system and made our blocking and defense really good tonight," commented NNU head coach Doug English.
 
The win moved the Crusaders to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play.  The winning streak is the longest since the Crusaders transitioned to the NCAA Division II level in 2002.
 
Madi Farrell had 10 kills and Kendra Bodine finished with nine as Farrell hit .667 and Bodine .360 in the three-set match.  The Crusaders hit .297 in the match, including a .367 clip in the second set.
 
English added, "It was also great to see everyone play tonight.  Everyone on our team is working so hard in practice and to be able to reward them with playing time is a really good thing."
 
Hailey Cook quarterbacked the offense with 24 assists and Shayli Siegfreid had 16 digs to anchor the defense.
 
The Crusaders will return to the road next weekend, playing at Seattle Pacific on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. PT and at Saint Martin's on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. PT.
