Simon Fraser stops Crusaders 3-0

Box Score BURNABY, B.C. – Two late goals spoiled the Crusaders hard-fought effort as the Simon Fraser University women's soccer team defeated Northwest Nazarene 3-0 on Saturday night at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby.
 
With a 1-0 lead after a goal in the 43rd-minute by Emma Pringle, the Clan (5-4, 3-2 GNAC) withstood the Crusader charge and added goals in the 79th and 84th-minutes for the final 3-0 total.
 
"It was a tough travel weekend.  We played well in parts tonight but it wasn't enough," NNU head coach Mary Trigg commented.  "It was a close game until the end when we tried to push numbers up.  We'll get better and move forward."
 
Pringle scored her second goal in the 79th-minute and Claire Bareilles scored the final tally.
 
SFU held a 14-9 edge in total shots and a 10-4 corner kick advantage.
 
NNU goalkeeper Daniele Ortiz finished with five saves.
 
The Crusaders will return home to host Central Washington on Thursday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday.  Thursday's match begins at 4 p.m. and Saturday's kickoff is at 1 p.m.
