Box Score MONMOUTH, Ore. – A pair of double-double performances powered the 16
th-ranked Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team past Western Oregon University 16-25, 22-25, 28-26, 25-16, 15-11 tonight in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match in Monmouth.
Kendra Bodine and
Mari Thomas led the league-leading Crusaders (11-0, 3-0 GNAC) as Bodine finished with 25 kills and 13 digs and Thomas collected 16 kills and 17 digs.
"Western Oregon gave us their best match and it took us a couple sets to figure them out," NNU head coach
Doug English commented. "Our outsides, Kendra and Mari, played great tonight to lead our offense."
Down two sets for the first time this season, the Crusaders battled back to grab the third set 28-26 and then completed the comeback with 25-16 and 15-11 set wins for the victory.
"We are a competitive group and fought really hard to win this match," English added.
Hailey Cook dished out a match-high 51 assists and libero
Shayli Siegfreid led all defensive players with 33 digs.
Western Oregon (5-5, 1-2 GNAC) was paced by Alisha Bettinson with 23 kills and 16 digs.
The Crusaders will now travel to Concordia University to face the Cavaliers this Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. PT in a GNAC tilt.
