Crusaders drop 3-2 match at MSUB

Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team fell 3-2 at Montana State University Billings today in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams at Yellowjacket Field.
 
MSUB (3-4, 1-0 GNAC) struck first with a penalty kick converted by Guillaume Kremer in the 24th-minute and held the lead until intermission.
 
After the break the Crusaders (3-3, 0-1 GNAC) evened the score at 1-1 when Jake Levine found Raphael Junquiera with a cross from the right side in the 51st-minute.  This would open a 14-minute span that would see four combined goals scored.
 
MSUB answered just over a minute later as Eli Williams scored off an assist from Realf Zhivanaj and the Crusaders pulled back again at 2-2 in the 61st-minute when Levine finished a long breakaway and 1v1 win against MSUB goalkeeper Tom Lohmann.  Edwin Quiroz earned an assist on the play.
 
The 'Jackets converted the game-winner in the 64th-minute when Guillaume controlled a defensive deflection and scored with a low shot from 18-yards out.
 
Statistically even throughout the match, each team took 13 shots and the Crusaders finished with a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
 
The Crusaders will look to bounce back next Thursday afternoon when they host Saint Martin's University at 4:00 p.m.
