| By:
Box Score SEASIDE, Calif. - The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team defeated Metro State and Dixie State on Saturday at the Spring Hill Suites Classic, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay at The Kelp Bed, to sweep all four opening weekend matches.

"It's tough to win four games in two days and we were tested in our last match by Dixie State," commented NNU head coach Doug English.  "Overall our offense was great all weekend and was the most consistent part of what we did.  That paired with our toughness is fun to be a part of."

In the morning match against Metro State (1-2), the Crusaders won 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 as both Madi Farrell and Kendra Bodine had 13 kills apiece.  Cami Heninger added nine kills, Shayli Siegfried led the defense with 16 digs and Hailey Cook dished 32 assists.

The afternoon match-up versus Dixie State (0-4) pushed the Crusaders to four sets, winning 22-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-22.  Farrell and Bodine again led NNU with 20 and 17 kills, respectively.  Farrell continued her efficient play, hitting .562 in the match with just two attack errors.

Cook led the way with 52 assists and Sigfried led a trio of Crusaders with double-digit digs with 18.  Mari Thomas had 8 kills and 12 digs and Jacquelyn Johnson added 11 digs.

The Crusaders return home to host the Division II West Region Showcase next weekend, welcoming Dominican (CA), Sonoma State, Cal State LA, Hawaii Pacific and Simon Fraser to Nampa.
