NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team fell 5-0 against 20
th-ranked California Baptist University this afternoon in a non-conference NCAA Division II match at the NNU Soccer Field.
The Crusaders complete the non-conference portion of their schedule 3-2-0 and will open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play next week as they travel to Montana State University Billings on Thursday.

th-nationally, Cal Baptist improved to 4-0-1 with the win.
Facing adversity from the start, the Crusaders played a man down for a majority of the match. Just seven minutes into the match, NNU goalkeeper
Jacob Hillyer was drawn off his line to prevent a chip-in shot, but contacted the ball outside the 18-yard box with his hand, drawing a red card.
Following the exchange of goalkeepers by the Crusaders and playing a man down, Cal Baptist scored the opening goal a minute later when they were awarded a penalty kick after new Crusader goalkeeper Alex Basulto made a diving save off the foot of Daniel Westhold, but tripped the Lancer attacker in the process. Aidan Apodaca stepped up and converted the PK, giving CBU the lead 1-0.
The short-handed Crusaders held tough and trailed 2-0 at the half, allowing a goal in the 36
th-minute when Apodaca scored his second goal of the match when he finished an Abe Placito ball up the middle from 10-yards out.
The second half would see Apodaca score three more goals, finishing the match with all five CBU goals and a new Lancer single-match record. He scored in the 54
th, 58
th and 75
th-minutes, with two unassisted and one from Joey Chica.
