Crusaders fall 2-1 against Dixie State in Utah

Box Score SALT LAKE CITY - The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team fell 2-1 in the season opening match against the Dixie State University Trailblazers on Thursday afternoon at Dumke Field on the Westminster College campus.

With all the scoring taking place in the first 30-minutes of action, the Blazers (1-0-0) scored first in the 10th-minute off a penalty kick from Gabby Medina.

NNU (0-1-0) answered in the 23rd-minute when Linus Månsson scored an unassisted goal, but Dixie State bounced back with the game-winner in the 30th-minute with a tally by Moises Medina.

Jacob Hillyer made six saves in goal for NNU, while Zach Nielson had four for DSU.

NNU held an 11-10 edge in shots on goal and each team faced one corner kick opportunity.

The Crusaders will next face host Westminster College on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
