CALDWELL, Idaho – Madi Ferrell had 10 kills and 12 total blocks, as Northwest Nazarene used a big net presence to defeat rival College of Idaho 25-21, 25-15, 18-25, 25-22 on Wednesday night in a exhibition match for both teams at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center on the C of I campus.

"We played a really good C of I team tonight," commented NNU head coach
Doug English. "We showed some poise as we got down a little in sets three and four. I thought we blocked well tonight and that we are in a good place to start our season!"
The Crusaders piled up 17.5 total blocks in the exhibition match and won despite the Yotes recording a 58-41 edge in total kills. While Ferrell led the way with 12,
Hailey Cook added six,
Natalie Knauf and
Cami Heninger had five and
Mari Thomas finished with four.
Kendra Bodine had 13 kills and 11 digs for NNU, while Brenna Meehan led four C of I players with 14 kills. Cook dished out 33 assists and had 12 digs.
The Crusaders will open the non-conference season next weekend at the Cal State Monterey Bay Tournament in Seaside, Calif., facing Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Sept. 1st, and Metro State and Dixie State on Saturday, Sept. 2nd.
