Farrell dominates in the middle to lead NNU to sweep

| By:
Box Score NAMPA, Idaho – Madi Farrell dominated from the middle offensively and the Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team played its best match in a few weeks, sweeping aside Seattle Pacific on Saturday.

Farrell had a stellar .824 attack percentage, recording 14 kills with no errors on 17 attempts. NNU had a .337 attack percentage as a team in the 25-16, 25-19, 25-21 Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory.

"Part of it was our serve receive was really good and that allowed (setter) Hailey (Cook) to do whatever she wanted on offense," NNU coach Doug English said. "We were much cleaner in our serving and passing tonight."

The Nighthawks (22-2, 14-2 GNAC) had struggled recently with both service errors and allowing too many aces, but were much better in that department Saturday. NNU only had three serve errors and allowed only five aces.

"We only had one lapse at the end of Set 2 with our passing where they got a couple of aces in a row," English said. "This is one of our better matches overall in the last five or six.

"I thought the girls did a good job of getting positive block touches that we could transition out of and get kills."

Farrell added four blocks to go with her strong hitting. Kendra Bodine had 13 kills and eight digs, Mari Thomas had 10 kills and 10 digs, libero Jacquelyn Johnson had 15 digs and Cook finished with 41 assists.

The Nighthawks are off until Tuesday when they host Central Washington at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are one of two teams to knock off the Nighthawks this season.
