Box Score NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team bounced back from a rare loss with a four-set victory against Saint Martin's on Thursday at Johnson Sports Center.
NNU (21-2, 13-2 GNAC), which lost to Alaska Anchorage on Saturday night, won 25-13, 25-20, 20-25, 25-16 against the Saints.
"Our offense was great," NNU coach
Doug English said. "Hailey (Cook) is doing a great job setting, everyone is contributing, Kendra (Bodine) and Madi (Farrell) both had great nights and Nat (Knauf) had a great night hitting."
The Nighthawks dominated the first two sets, before making a few too many errors in the third set loss. They bounced back with a strong performance in the fourth set to secure the victory.
NNU had six service errors and gave up nine service aces in the match.
"We are still trying to get better at limiting errors," English said. "We can still do better than we did, but anytime we can win a game in the GNAC it's awesome – so we are excited for that."
Farrell and Bodine each had 15 kills, while
Jacquelyn Johnson had 21 digs. Cook had 43 assists and
Mari Thomas finished with 13 digs, seven kills and three aces.
NNU is No. 2 in the first NCAA West Region poll that will eventually decide which teams advance to the national tournament. The next ranking comes out Wednesday.
The Nighthawks will host Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. Saturday.
