NNU volleyball ends regular season with loss

BURNABY, B.C. – The Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team lost 25-23, 25-14, 22-25, 25-16 on Saturday to end the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season.

The loss is the second in a row for the Nighthawks (24-4, 16-4 GNAC), who finish in second place behind Western Washington in the regular season standings.

NNU will find out at 5:30 p.m. Monday whether or not they will be picked to play in the NCAA Division II National Tournament. There will be a Selection Show in the Ferdinand Suite at the Johnson Sports Center with finger foods and the public is invited to join the Nighthawks during that show.

NNU has been ranked No. 2 in the West Region throughout the season. Eight teams will be chosen to play in the West Regional portion of the national tournament, with three of those spots being automatic bids going to regular season champions from the GNAC, California Collegiate Athletic Association and the Pacific West Conference.

On Saturday, Kendra Bodine had 13 kills and 11 digs, while Madi Farrell had 12 kills. Hailey Cook had 41 assists and 10 digs, Mari Thomas had seven kills and nine digs and Jacquelyn Johnson had 16 digs.
