NNU battles SPU to a five-set victory

Box Score SEATTLE – Pushed to five-sets the last time the 12th-ranked Northwest Nazarene University volleyball team travelled, the Crusaders again won a five-set battle tonight against Seattle Pacific University at Royal Brougham Pavilion.
 
The Crusaders remain undefeated at 15-0 with the 25-17, 19-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-8 victory and 7-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.  The Falcons are now 9-6 overall and 4-3 in GNAC action.  Western Oregon University pushed the Crusaders to a fifth set on September 21st, the first match of the Crusaders last road trip.
 
"It is always hard to win and now people look at our match as a big one in their schedule," Crusader head coach Doug English commented.  "It makes us better as we are getting everyone's best."
 
NNU's Kendra Bodine led all players with a 20 kill – 14 dig double-double and Madi Farrell finished with 15 kills, hitting .343 for the match.
 
"Jess did a great job coming off the bench and providing a nice spark for us and Mari made a nice adjustment blocking in set four that got us some crucial points." 
 
Jess Brennis had three kills off the bench and Mari Thomas also grabbed a double-double with 11 kills, 13 digs and added five blocks.
 
Shayli Siegfreid hustled for a match-high 30 digs and Hailey Cook had 49 assists, four kills and 12 digs.
 
The Crusaders will travel south to Saint Martin's University on Saturday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. GNAC match against the Saints.
