Nighthawks win 1-0 in OT at Concordia

| By:
Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – Jose Labanino-Ramos headed home the game winner in the 98th-minute to lift the Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team to a 1-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory over Concordia University tonight in the wind and rain at Tuominen Yard.

A Concordia foul on the right flank just outside the box set up the decisive free kick, delivered by Edqin Quiroz, which found Labanino-Ramos unmarked on the back post.  It was Labanino-Ramos' first goal of the season and moved the Nighthawks to 6-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in GNAC matches.

NNU opened the scoring in the 23rd-minute when Daniel Brendel converted a crossing pass from Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz from five yards for his first goal of the year.

Concordia (4-8-2, 3-5-1 GNAC) answered just three-minutes later when a through-ball played forward by Kieran McMinn found Nick Evans for his fourth tally of the season.

Tied into the half, NNU's Skyler Munroe struck in the 74th-minute, slipping a shot into the lower right side of the goal off a ball up the middle from Linus Mansson.

Munroe's first goal of the season appeared to be the game winner, but the Cavaliers had other thoughts in the 98th-minute as a short header from Alec Dunkeld from just two-yards out scored after a crossing pass from McMinn bounced through the defenders.

Headed to overtime for the second-straight match, the Nighthawks fought off three shots and two corners by the Cavaliers in the overtime to earn the road victory.

The Nighthawks will return home and host three of their final four matches of the season, beginning next Thursday against Western Washington and a week from today against Simon Fraser.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
