NAMPA, Idaho — First-year Crusader coach Joel DeLass finds himself with the luxury of being critical.

When your team is scoring four goals a game, you can feel pretty good about things as you look for areas to improve.

For the second straight outing, and third time in four games, the Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team netted four goals in a 4-2, run-away victory on Monday over Hawaii Hilo at Finkbeiner Park on the NNU campus.

"The offense is clicking well," DeLass said, adding, "the defensive side of things needs a lot of work.

"I guess if we're going to give up two goals a game we need to score four."

The Crusaders (3-1-1 overall) were comfortably in control after two goals each by Ebu Camara and Rafael Junqueira before the Vulcans spoiled the shutout Monday, though, as Hawaii Hilo (0-3-0) scored twice in the final five minutes.

Up until then it was all NNU, as a long pass forward from Bryan Neba set up Camara for the opening goal with 27 minutes, 3 seconds gone in the contest.

Neba's pass bounced over Vulcan goalkeeper Cassidy Dixon, leaving Camara unchallenged to boot home the game's first goal.

NNU then took a 2-0 lead when Junqueira blasted home a ball off a Linus Mansson corner kick with 2:22 gone in the second half.

Junqueira then headed in his second of the game, off assists from Michael Mollay and Fernando Alvarez, in the 68th minute, before Camara scored on a bad-angle shot off a Collin Raymond assist in the 77th minute.

Plenty of offense for the Crusaders, who saw four different players score in a 4-1 win over Westminster on Saturday, and four other players also net a goal apiece in a 4-2 win over Dominican on Sept. 3.

It's been the Crusaders prolific teamwork that's impressed Coach DeLass most about NNU's offensive onslaught of late.

"I'm actually really happy on the work to get the ball to them," NNU's coach said of Camara and Junqueira's two goals each on Monday, "there's a lot of guys contributing."

NNU looks to continue its prolific play on the road this weekend when the Crusaders visit Dixie State at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
