BURNABY, B.C. — The Crusaders chance at a Great Northwest Athletic Conference title disappeared into the night north of the border on Saturday.

Host and third-ranked Simon Fraser scored late in the first half, then surged midway through the second half to put the game away, scoring a 4-0 over the Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team, which clinched the GNAC title for the Clan.

Adam Jones scored what proved to be the game-winner with 8 minutes, 9 seconds left until halftime for the Clan (13-0-2 overall, 8-0-2 GNAC), who then pulled away in the final 45 minutes by scoring goals in the 65th and 69th minute.

A final score, with 45 seconds left, finished off the victory as Simon Fraser outshot NNU, 27-7, in the contest.

Crusader keeper Alejandro Basulto-Merito made eight saves in goal in his first game in net for NNU (8-5-3, 5-3-2), which plays at Concordia this Thursday before playing its final game of the regular season at home, hosting St. Martin's next Saturday at 3 p.m.
