NAMPA, Idaho —
Abraham Placito is proving to be a versatile weapon all over the field for the Crusaders.
The junior-college transfer not only shares the lead in goals scored for the 22
nd-ranked Northwest Nazarene men's soccer team, but his effort as NNU's center back last week earned him Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for men's soccer.
Placito, who has four goals this year, anchored the Crusaders (6-1-1 overall, 2-0-1 GNAC) defense for all 200 minutes as NNU played No. 3 Seattle Pacific to a scoreless draw on Thursday in Seattle, then notched a 2-1 road win at St. Martin's on Saturday.
The NNU defender from Perris, Calif., added two shots in the game against the Falcons, which went to double overtime with no one scoring. Placito also had a shot in the St. Martin's game, helping out the Crusader offense in both contests.
Placito and the GNAC-leading Crusaders are back in action hosting Mary on Thursday and Montana State Billings on Saturday. Kick-off is 5 p.m. at Finkbeiner Park on Thursday and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
