NAMPA, Idaho —
Julio Castillo and
Abraham Placito proved to be star players on the field this fall for the Crusaders, a fact that didn't go unnoticed by opposing coaches when it was time to vote on awards.
After standout seasons on the pitch by both the Northwest Nazarene men's soccer players, each was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American West Region team.
Castillo, a First-Team NSCAA All-American in 2014, was a Second Team West Region selection at midfielder this season.
Placito was named to the West Region Third Team at defender in his first fall with the Crusaders.
A senior from Tijuana, Mexico, Castillo led the GNAC with 15 assists and was No. 5 in the nation in that category. He also had four goals this fall for NNU, helping the Crusaders to a 12-6-1 overall record.
A junior from Perris, Calif., Placito scored four goals in his debut season with NNU, including a team-high three game winners.
