NAMPA, Idaho - Both Travis Thompson and Teancum Stafford scored 19 points for the Seawolves as the University of Alaska Anchorage defeated Northwest Nazarene University 76-64 tonight in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.

Thompson and Stafford matched NNU's Kevin Rima for game-high honors with 19 points each and the Seawolves converted 15 three-point field goals in the victory to improve to 15-11 overall and 8-7 in GNAC action.  The Crusaders fall to 5-17 overall and 2-11 in GNAC play.

Stafford led the Seawolves outside-the-arc attack with five triples and was joined by Colton Lauwers in double-figures. Lauwers finished with 14 points that included four three-pointers.

Derek Isaak added 13 points and five assists for the Crusaders and Mario Donaldson scored 11.

While UAA shot 42.9-percent (15-35) and NNU 35.7-percent (10-28) from the three-point line for the game, the contest started off more promising for both squads as the first eight field goals of the game were three-pointers, four for each team and the score was tied 12-12 with 15:44 to play in the first half.

However, it was Brad Mears' baseline jumper that gave UAA a 14-12 lead with 15:18 to play in the opening period and a lead they would not relinquish the remainder of the game.

UAA led 39-33 at the half and NNU's Isaak cut the lead to five at 43-38 with 18:22 remaining with a three-pointer, but the Seawolves would respond with a Stafford triple and build the lead to as large as 19 (69-50) with 3:43 to play.

The Crusaders will travel to Western Washington University next Thursday night and Simon Fraser University next Saturday.  Both games are slated to tip-off at 7 p.m. Pacific Time.
