NAMPA, Idaho – The Crusaders got back to their winning ways.

Coming on in waves throughout the game, the Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team cashed in with a trio of second-half goals to snap a three-game skid and beat Simon Fraser, 3-0, in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action Saturday at Finkbeiner Park on the NNU campus.

"We played together as a unit," said NNU head women's soccer coach Mary Trigg.

"We showed how good we can be when we stick to the game-plan," added Trigg, whose team had a handful of chances in the first half, controlling play.

But the ball didn't find the back of the net until the final 45 minutes when Sarah Blum booted home a cross from Sarah Jenkins out of the left corner with 30 minutes, 6 seconds left on the clock.

That opened the floodgates for NNU (3-4-3 overall, 2-3-1 GNAC), as Ashley Cook-Cox added a goal in the 63rd minute, knocking home a cross from Lexi Fesenbek, then Fesenbek scored in the 78th minute off a Nicole Nsa cross.

Crusader freshman goalkeeper Daniele Ortiz made four saves in goal, earning her second career shutout, as NNU outshot the Clan (2-8-0, 2-4-0), 15-12, in the contest.

Northwest Nazarene, which earlier this season had a program-best five-game unbeaten streak, now hits the road looking to start a new winning streak when it plays at Central Washington on Thursday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
