Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – It turned out to be a disappointing day in Montana for the Crusaders, and not just because of the weather.
The host Yellowjackets scored early in the second half then held the Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team without a shot, as Montana State Billings notched a 1-0 win in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action on a drizzly Thursday afternoon.
"Overall, we didn't deserve to win," NNU women's soccer head coach
Mary Trigg said. "Every game in our conference is a battle and we have to come out prepared to compete."
That disappointing effort led to the Crusaders (2-4-3 overall, 1-3-1 GNAC) being outshout 14-0 in the contest.
Of course, Trigg did see some bright spots on the dreary day as NNU goalkeeper
Daniele Ortiz made seven saves and midfielder
Sarah Jenkins also drew praise from Coach Trigg.
"We had a couple players step up today," NNU's coach said, "Dani and Jenkins had great games."
But the difference was a goal 6 minutes, 51 seconds into the second half by the Yellowjackets' Kari Kastelic.
MSU Billings (5-1-1, 4-1-1) then held on, not allowing a shot by the Crusaders, who return home from the quick road trip to host Simon Fraser at noon on Saturday.
