SEATTLE, Wash. – The Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team again played a strong second half.
Unfortunately for the Crusaders, once again it came after an opponent put NNU in a hole as No. 25 Seattle Pacific scored three times in the first half of a 3-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon at SPU.
"As a coaching staff we have to make some decisions on what we're going to change in the first half," NNU coach Mary Trigg said.
Laura Moore score 9 minutes, 11 seconds into the game for SPU, then Hannah Huesers added a pair of goals, one in the 26th minute and another in the 35th minute.
That was all the 25th-ranked Falcons mustered, as the Crusaders (1-5-1 overall, 0-3-1 GNAC) clamped down in the second half.
"All year we've only had one goal scored in the second half," said Trigg said.
"We played well in the second half, but again, it's just mental mistakes we're making the first half," she added.
The second half was much more even, with the Falcons holding just a 3-1 edge in shots. SPU (7-1-0, 4-0-0) outshot NNU 12-6 on the game.
Argia Phillips made four saves in goal for the Crusaders, who continue a four-game road-trip at Western Oregon on Thursday and Saint Martin's on Saturday.
