ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University took a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference wins from the Northwest Nazarene University Crusader Baseball team 6-4 and 8-5 today in Ellensburg, Washington.
In game three of the four game series, the Wildcats scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull ahead of NNU. The Crusaders would score two runs of their own in the eighth inning but CWU held on to take the 6-4 win.
Sam Cook led the Crusaders at the plate going 3 for 4 with 1 RBI.
Jon Matos went 2 for 3 for NNU. After five innings pitched,
Tyson Flannery took the loss on the mound, dropping to 0-4 on the year.
In today's final game Central Washington (20-14, 14-6 GNAC) came out on top after opening the game with a six-run first inning. The Crusaders would score 3 runs in the final inning of play but was not enough to overcome the 8-5 CWU lead.
Senior
Jamie Mitchell went 3 for 4 from the plate while Matos was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's.
Skyler Souza received the loss on the mound, going to 2-1 on the season.
The Crusaders drop to 18-19 overall and 9-11 GNAC action. NNU will be back on field Friday in Monmouth, Oregon when they face Western Oregon University. Double-header play will begin at 1:00 p.m. (PST).
