Crusaders Split With Wildcats In Ellensburg

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – After a 13-1 loss in game one, the Northwest Nazarene University baseball team bounced back to get a 3-2 win over Central Washington University in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference double-header held in Ellesnburg, Washington.
 
In game one, the Wildcats of CWU used 15 hits to help earn the 13-1 victory. Joe Castro and Kramer Ferrell each had 3 hits and 2 RBI's for Central Washington.
 
Skyler Souza led the Crusaders at the plate going 3 for 5. Greg Hata was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.
 
Aaron Vaughn took the loss on the mound, dropping to 4-4 on the year.
 
In today's second game, CWU was up 2-1 after four innings played. In the top of the fifth inning, after a Kaleb DeHaas single, Sam Cook hit a two-run homerun over the right field wall to pull the Crusader up 3-2.
 
NNU would hold on to get the 3-2 game two win and improve to 18-17 overall and 9-9 in conference action. Souza was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI while Sam Cook was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Nick Bland earned the win on the mound improving to 2-2 on the year.
 
Both teams will be back for double-header action tomorrow beginning at noon in Ellensburg, Washington.
