Top-Seeded Wolves Sweep Crusaders

MONMOUTH, Ore. – Great Northwest Athletic Conference top-seed Western Oregon University swept the Northwest Nazarene baseball team in today's double-header action in Monmouth, Oregon. The Wolves took game one 6-0 and edged the Crusaders 2-1 in today's second game.
 
Scott David led the Wolves in the first game, going 3 for 5 at the plate with 1 RBI. Spenser Watkins earned his sixth win on the mound after pitching a complete nine innings for WOU.
 
Charlie Gorzo was 2 for 4 from the plate to lead NNU. Jeremy Burk took the loss on the mound dropping to 0-3 on the year after 6 innings pitched.
 
In game two, Gary Steindorf pitched six innings for the Wolves giving up only two hits in the scheduled seven-inning game. Garrett Harpole was 2 for 3 from the plate for Western Oregon.
 
Andrew Groves drops to 2-2 on the year after taking the game two loss. Jamie Mitchell and Jake Ferdinand had the only two Crusaders hits in the second game. 
 
The Crusaders fall to 18-21 overall and 9-13 in GNAC action.  Both teams will be back to finish the four-game series tomorrow beginning at noon in Monmouth, Oregon.
