NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team used a well-balanced attack to help take down Central Washington University 100-69 in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match-up.

“I'm really proud of Kenny (Jones) and the rest of our seniors tonight,” commented head coach Dave Daniels,” I thought they all came out and had solid performances. Kenny played the best game of his career while Kevin (Rima) and Michal (Kurimsky) were real forces in the paint again.”

Seniors Kenny Jones and Jonathan Hawkins combined for 46 points. Jones was 7 of 10 from the field and 10 of 13 from the foul line, giving him 26 points. Hawkins was 6 of 8 from the floor with four of those shots coming from beyond the arc to giving him 20 points on the night. Kevin Rima posted his fourth double-double of the year with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Matyas Hering chipped 10 points off the bench for NNU.

Mark McLaughlin led the Wildcats with 15 points. Dom Williams had 14 points on 3 of 6 shooting from beyond the arc. Trey Gross chipped in 10 for CWU. The Wildcats were 22 of 62 (35.5-percent) from the floor and 17 of 23 (73.9-percent) from the foul line.

The Crusaders were 28 of 48 (58.3-percent) from the floor, 11 of 20 (55.0-percent) from behind the three-point line and 33 of 39 from the charity stripe. NNU out-rebound CWU 42-24 on the glass.

“We've been talking a lot the past couple weeks about how important it is to finish strong at the end of the year, not just what happens on the court but to show the character that we have been building and the men we are becoming. I am really proud of how we competed tonight and never gave up.” Added Daniels.

NNU improves to 11-13 overall and 5-11 in GNAC action. The Crusaders will play their final two regular season games next weekend when they host Saint Martin's University on Thursday and Western Oregon University on Saturday. Both games will begin at 7:30 at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa, Idaho.
