BILLINGS, Mont. – A strong effort Saturday wasn't enough to provide a happy ending for the Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team.

Coming off a dramatic "Senior Day" win, the Crusaders missed closing on a  two-game win streak as host Montana State Billings scored early then hung on to top NNU, 1-0, in the season finale for both teams in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.

"We started off slow and then had a great second half but we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net," said NNU coach Mary Trigg.

"Great effort in the second half, but once again, we need to play a complete game."

Heidi Greenback scored off an Alisa Sagdahl assist with 17 minutes, 57 seconds gone in the contest, giving the Yellowjackets the game's lone goal.

The Crusaders (2-12-3 overall, 1-10-3 GNAC) outshot the Yellowjackets (6-8-2, 5-8-1) in the second half, 5-4, trying to even the score, but could not get a ball past MSU Billings goalkeeper Krystal Daniels, who finished with two saves.

Argia Phillips made two saves in goal for NNU.
