Box Score BURNABY, B.C. – It took a trip to Canada, but the Crusaders are back on the winning track.

After back-to-back setbacks to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's two front-runners, the Northwest Nazarene volleyball team returner to its winning ways Saturday at Simon Fraser, beating the Clan 22-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18 in GNAC action.

"We played good, clean, low-error volleyball in sets two through four," NNU coach Doug English said. "It was fun to watch and see us play.

"Our passing was great and our middles, Jenna (Caywood) and Andrea (Terpstra), hit exceptionally well tonight."

The evening didn't start great for the Crusaders (8-4 overall, 4-2 GNAC) who dropped the opening set before building some momentum midway through the second set on their way to evening the match.

A kill each from Elayna Rice, Michelle Terpstra and Jenna Caywood stretched a 13-12 lead to 16-13, and a Kaitlyn Tuholski kill pushed the Crusaders advantage to 21-16 en route to the second-set win.

NNU then dominated the third set after a Linnea Phillips ace snapped a 6-6 tie, as a Rice kill put the Crusaders in front 13-7, and a tandem block by Michelle Terpstra and Caywood stretched the lead to 17-8 before a Rice kill put NNU in front two sets to one.

The Crusaders maintained control in the fourth set, grabbing a 10-6 lead on a Linnea Phillips ace, a 15-9 edge on a Rice kill, and eventually finishing off the match win over the Saints (6-4, 1-3) on a tandem block by Andrea Terpstra and Rice.

That duo led the way offensively as Andrea Terpstra had 16 kills and six blocks while Rice added 11 kills, 10 digs and four blocks.

Michelle Terpstra dished out 44 assists and made 10 digs in the win, and Tuholski led the defense with 22 digs for the Crusaders, who now return home to host Montana State Billings on Thursday at 7 p.m.
