Crusader Basketball Falls In Heartbreaker 60-61 in Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – With just four seconds remaining, Ronnie Baker of Alaska Fairbanks knocked down two free-throws putting the Nanooks of UAF up one, 61-60. The Crusaders were unable to convert on an inbounds play as time expired allowing Fairbanks to earn their sixth conference win in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match-up. 
 
Despite having three players in double figures, the Crusader men were unable to take down GNAC No. 3 UAF. Grayson Moore led all scorers with 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting from the floor and a perfect 4 of 4 from the foul line. Jonathan Hawkins had 14 points and fellow senior Kenny Jones finished the game with 12 of his own.
 
Kevin Rima chipped in 9 points and a grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds. The Crusaders out-rebounded the Nanooks 38-32.
 
The Nanooks, who jump to 11-7 and 6-4 overall, were led by Sergej Pucar's 12 points and 8 rebounds. Fairbanks brought a balanced attack in tonight's action as all eight players were able to put points on the board. Ronnie Baker was the only other player for the Nanooks with double-digit scoring. He chipped in 10 points, including a pair of free-throws to put UAF up with just four seconds remaining in the game.
 
The Crusaders, who fall to 9-9 overall and 3-7 in GNAC play, were 24 of 53 (45.3-percent) from the floor and 4 of 12 (33.3-percent) from the three-point line. Both teams were 8 of 12 (66.7-percent) from the charity stripe. The Nanooks were 23 of 63 (36.5-percent) from the floor and 7 of 19 (36.8-percent) coming from beyond the three-point line. UAF dished out 18 assists.
