NAMPA, Idaho – Led by senior
Jonathan Hawkins, the Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team defeated #25 Alaska Anchorage 61-60 in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference showdown.
Hawkins had 14 points including a three-pointer at the 1:58 mark in the second half to put the Crusaders up two. Hawkins was 4 of 4 from beyond the three-point line in the final 20 minutes. The senior out of Phoenix, Arizona finished with a game-high of 19 points on 5 of 7 shooting from beyond the arc and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Grayson Moore was 3 of 3 from the three-point line in the first half and finished the game with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Michal Kurimsky had 11 points in 14 minutes of play and senior Kenny jones had a game-high of 7 assists.

Dave Daniels, “another gutsy win over a top 25 team. Kenny (Jones) and (Jonathan) Hawkins stepped up and played like seniors; Kenny had 7 assists with only one turnover and Jon hit big shot after big shot. I'm really proud of Michal and Grayson with their production off the bench.”
The Seawolves (8-3 overall, 1-2 GNAC) were led by Liam Gibcus. Gibcus had 15 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the floor and 5 of 7 from the charity stripe. Colton Lauwers and Kyle Fossman each had 10 points for the Seawolves.
The Crusaders were 20 of 44 (45.5-percent) from the floor overall and 10 of 14 (71.4-percent) from behind the three-point line. NNU was 11 of 18 (61.1-percent) from the free-throw line. Both teams finished with 30 total rebounds. The Seawolves were 21 of 50 (42.0-percent) from the floor, 7 of 21 (33.3-percent) from the three-point line and 11 of 17 (64.7-percent) from the foul line.
With the win, the Crusaders now jump to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in GNAC action. NNU will now host Alaska Fairbanks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night at the Johnson Sports Center after the Women's Basketball game against Central Washington starting at 5:15 p.m. in Nampa, Idaho.
