Wildcats Top Crusaders 81-70

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Despite a double-double performance by Kevin Rima, the Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team fell 81-70 to Central Washington University in tonight's Great Northwest Athletic Conference showdown in Ellensburg, Washington.
 
Rima finished the game with a team-high 24 points and 12 rebounds on 9 of 12 shooting from the floor. Senior Jonathan Hawkins added 17 points and was a perfect 5 for 5 from the charity stripe.
 
Mark McLaughlin's 29 points paced the Wildcats, who jump 11-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play. McLaughlin was 7 of 17 from the floor and 12 of 15 from the free-throw line. Kevin Davis had 18 points, going 6 of 6 from the floor. Jordan Coby chipped in 13 points for CWU.
 
NNU drops to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in GNAC action. The Crusaders were 22 of 49 (44.9-percent) from the field and 23 of 31 (74.2-percent) from the free-throw line. NNU out-rebounded the Wildcats 33-30. CWU was 24 of 53 (45.3-percent) from the floor and 26 of 36 (72.2-percent) from the charity stripe.
 
The Crusaders will now travel to Fairbanks, Alaska next Thursday to take on the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks at 7 p.m. at the Patty Center.
