NAMPA, Idaho – The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team fell 63-61 tonight in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest against Montana State University Billings at the Johnson Sports Center in Nampa.
Omar McDade scored a game-high 21 points for the Yellowjackets (9-9, 2-5 GNAC) and the Crusaders went scoreless over the final 4:46 as MSUB finished the game on a 14-3 run over the final eight minutes of play.
Kenny Jones led the Crusaders (9-7, 3-5 GNAC) with 16 points and both
Kevin Rima and
Jonathan Hawkins reached double-figures with 13 and 11, respectively.
The Crusaders out-rebounded the 'Jackets 43-36 behind a game-high 12 rebounds from
Grayson Moore, but MSUB shot 47.8-percent from the floor in the second half, while the Crusaders were just 9 of 29 (31-percent) from the field in the final half.
NNU led by as many as 14 (45-31) early in the second half after
Keith Moilanen buried a three-pointer with 15:58 to play, but MSUB answered with four-straight free throws and back-to-back jumpers by McDade to pull the lead back just five at 45-40.
The Crusaders, who play their next three on the road, will travel to Central Washington University next Saturday night to face the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. PST.
