BURNABY, BC – The Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team held off the Clan of Simon Fraser University 85-75 in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match up.
Due to a power outage during last night's scheduled game on the campus of Simon Fraser, today's game started at the 13:54 mark in the first half.
Kenny Jones led the Crusaders with 23 point, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
Kevin Rima posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Michal Kurimsky had 15 points on 7 of 8 shooting in 15 minutes of play. Senior
Jonathan Hawkins had 11 points and was 6 of 6 from the foul line.
The Crusaders were up as much as 22 with 12:59 remaining in the second half. NNU had 46 points in the paint and converted 19 points off of the 17 Simon Fraser turnovers.
Elijah Matthews led the Clan with 19 points. Anto Olah added 18 points and grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds while Taylor Dunn chipped 16 points for SFU. The Clan drop to 5-7 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
The Crusaders who jump to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in GNAC play were 28 of 54 (51.9-percent) from the field and 24 of 30 (80.0-percent) from the foul line. The Clan were 26 of 62 (40.3-percent) from the floor and 10 of 22 (45.5-percent) from beyond the three-point line.
NNU will now travel to Bellingham, Washington to face No. 5 nationally ranked Western Washington University tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at the Sam Carver Gymnasium.
