SAN RAFAEL, Calif – The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team loss 3-1 in today's soccer match against Dominican University in San Rafael, California.
Dominican's Pedro Guevara, who was just announced as the PacWest preseason player of the year was able to net two goals in today's contest.
Guevara scored early, as he was able to convert from eighteen yards out to the top left corner of the goal. The Crusaders were able to hold the Penguins scoreless the rest of the first half.
Dominican earned two quick goals in the second half as Kolby Mitnick scored in the 53
rd minute putting the Penguins up 2-0. Guevara was then able to net his second goal soon after, converting on a penalty kick in the 58
th minute of play putting the Penguins up 3-0.

Stephen Marshall scored off of a free kick to cut the score to 3-1, unfortunately there was no time left for the Crusaders, ending the game 3-1.
“Today was a bit of a difficult result to accept. In the minutes leading up to each of their goals, we were clearly in control and causing them issues. The simple fact is we have to get better in the final third if the score is going to start reflecting our play. “Commented head coach

The Crusaders fall to 0-2-1 as the Penguins go to 2-0-0. NNU will travel to San Francisco to take on Academy of Art University Saturday at Noon.
