NAMPA, Idaho - The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team defeated University of Mary 2-1 in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match in Bismark, North Dakota.

"I'm generally pleased with the performance today other than the fact that we should have put it out of reach in the first 45 and that we gave away a really poor goal" commented head coach Coe Michaelson

The Crusaders were first on the board as Jaime Torres scored his third goal of the season in the 20th minute of play. Torres recieved a ball from Dylan Coffee and was able to get past the keeper to put the Crusaders up 1-0.

The Marauders responded five minutes later as Ryan Buchholz converted on a header after a corner kick from Adam Potter. The goal was Buchholz second of the season.

The teams would go into half with a score of 1-1.

In the 61st minute of play Chris Voth netted his first goal of the season to put the Crusaders up 2-1. Jon DiLulo was credited with the assists.

The Crusaders would hold out for the rest of the half and earn the win 2-1.

"Our midfield was dominant from start to finish, and it isn't and easy place to play so we are happy with the result." said Michaelson.

Alfredo Ontiveros had four saves which all came in the second half. Michael Frenzel had nine saves for UM.

The Crusaders out shot the Marauders 23-12.

NNU now goes to 4-2-3 overall and 3-0-2 in GNAC action. The Marauders drop to 3-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in conference.
