SPU Defeats NNU 3-1

NAMPA, Idaho – The women's Crusader soccer team lost 3-1 in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match against Seattle Pacific University in Nampa, Idaho.

The Crusaders came out strong to start the first half of play by possessing the ball and moving effectively.

In the 14th minute of play Annie Thomas received a cross from Heather Young and was able to convert on a shot from 10 yards out to get the Falcons on the board first. Five minutes later Heather Young earned her second assist as she was able to find Megan Lindsay, Lindsay dribbled down the middle of the field and was able to get the ball past the Tanya Zickefoose to get SPU up 2-0.

NNU would battle back in the second half, in the 57th minute of play Jenny Field was able to get her foot on a ball inside the box and score to put the Crusaders on the board. Two minutes later the Crusaders were called for a foul inside the box. Ali Martin took the penalty shot and was successful putting the Falcons up 3-1.

The Crusaders had many chances late in the second half but unfortunately couldn't find the net. The Falcons will go to 4-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in GNAC play. The Crusaders now drop to 3-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in  conference play.

NNU will be back on the field next Thursday to host Western Oregon University at 3:00 p.m. here in Nampa.
